Tucked in the Arizona desert, lies Viola Jo Studio. Founded by Lisa Dixon, this creative studio offers a haven for locals and visitors alike. From classes, to supplies, to custom jewelry gifts, Viola Jo Studio offers everything you need for your next creative project.

About Lisa
After growing-up in the Midwest and a rewarding but busy east coast career, I’ve relocated to Tubac and opened Viola Jo Studio. It is my studio, and a resource for others. I’ve made handmade jewelry for almost 20 years and painted occasionally. I also do Kumihimo braiding using a variety of different fibers. With the precious gift of extra time, I’ve explored many jewelry and textile techniques including polymer and metal clay, wire wrapping, cold connections, enameling, resin, concrete, metal smithing, glass blowing, CAD, fabric surface design, screen printing, shibori, embroidery, weaving, paper sculpting, felting, and loom knitting. I like to explore and invite others to join!

Class is $65 to the instructor and a $5 materials fee to Viola Jo. Use of felting tools will be included during class.
Beginners and experienced alike will learn how to use a resist to keep the felt from sticking to itself. The use of silk fibers and Vintage scarves will add interest and texture to the wool. We will touch on the shrinkage factor and learn the fundamentals of wet felt making. Everything you learn will lead you to skills to apply to hats, bags, toys & more! Bring your lunch or snack as we will work through lunch.
FIBER ART CLASSES WITH DEB DEATON
Creating Thread Art with a Twist – 1 Day Class – $69

Create a beautiful piece of art using just thread and fibers! Learn to add other fibers, such as fabric or wool, and finish with thread. You will make 3D objects, with just thread as well! You can make an entire piece, or smaller designs to use in your fiber art pieces. Let your imagination guide you!

Embellishing With Fiber – 1 day class – $69

This class is a fabulous way to learn how to add any kind of fiber you want! We will play with fibers, like sari yarn, rattail, wool, thread painting, and more to create your piece of art! And of course, we have to top it off with beading!

Batik Painting – 1 day class – $80
January 27th

Learn to create your one-of-a-kind fabric with specialty paints. How fun would it be to create an entire piece of art with fabric you created. You will start with a solid white piece fabric and go crazy with paint, oil shiva sticks, rubbing blocks, stencils and more. Learn the different mediums to use for exquisite color on fabric. The sky’s the limit! Let’s even have fun on wool and other fibers! ALL PAINT SUPPLIES PROVIDED
